Restoration Plans
Since 2002 the Mavisbank Trust has undertaken extensive work to research, develop and fund various proposals for the restoration of Mavisbank House and its landscape, as well as undertaking a number of smaller projects.
The Trust’s objective for Mavisbank is to ensure the survival of one of Scotland’s most important historic buildings and its designed landscape. This will create a new accessible community greenspace and provide sustainable uses for the restored house and pavilions that are economically viable in the long-term and able to support a range of appropriate on-site activities.
Partner organisations, Historic Environment Scotland (HES) and The Landmark Trust, are working together to develop a fresh approach to saving the landscape and buildings of this important historic site. The Save Mavisbank project creates an experienced and influential team that can build on all the work done by the Mavisbank Trust to deliver a realistic, pragmatic project that is inclusive of the community in which it sits.
The Save Mavisbank project was invited to submit an application for funding to the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) Heritage Horizon Awards, to compete for a share of £50m funding. HES and The Landmark Trust have now submitted an application, with funding decisions due being made in mid-2021.
As part of this overall process, the Trust is committed to working in partnership and is fully supporting the current plans developed by the Landmark Trust and Historic Environment Scotland and their 2021 application to the National Heritage Lottery Fund for project funding.
